The Story Behind the Name

El Colibrí — the sacred messenger.

This space was born from love.

In Mexican and ancestral traditions, the hummingbird (el colibrí) is far more than a beautiful bird—it is a sacred messenger. Legends tell us that hummingbirds carry the good wishes, love, and thoughts of loved ones between this world and the next, acting as a spiritual bridge.

We named our space Casa del Colibrí to honor this spirit of connection. It is designed to be a peaceful, grounded sanctuary where you can rest, recharge, and feel completely connected to the rich cultural heartbeat of Oaxaca.

Meet Your Stewardess

Say hola to Thea, our resident Pomsky and the official stewardess of Casa del Colibrí! She is incredibly friendly, gentle with kids, and absolutely loves welcoming other four-legged travelers to the space. When she isn't making sure everyone feels right at home, you can find her taking a well-deserved nap in the sun-drenched courtyard.

(Note for pet parents: stays with pets include a pet cleaning fee of 800 MXN—charged as a flat one-time fee for 3-night minimum or weekly stays, and bi-weekly for monthly visitors. Premium bookings already include bi-weekly cleanings and are completely exempt. For extended multi-month stays, custom long-term arrangements can be discussed).
